Minecraft Explorers*
Minecraft Explorers brings the video game's blocky world to the table as a cooperative exploration game. One to four players aged 8 and up hunt for hidden treasure together, and a game runs 15 to 60 minutes.
What is it about?
You explore the familiar Minecraft landscape, revealing what hides on the back of each tile. Pickaxes and swords make some explorations easier, so it pays to collect them.
How it plays
- On your turn you spend action points however you like.
- Explore landscapes to flip new tiles and find the treasure you need.
- At the end of every turn you reveal a monster card.
- If a monster appears twice, your group is overrun and more monsters show up.
Once the monster cards run out, you all lose. So fill your chests in time.
Who is it for?
- Minecraft fans who want to play it away from the screen.
- Families with children from eight who prefer teaming up to competing.
- Solo players too.
Conclusion
Minecraft Explorers carries the digital thrill of exploring and treasure-hunting into board game form nicely. The cooperative race against the monsters builds real tension. Veteran gamers will find it simple, but for its family audience the balance is spot on.
