Otrio*

Otrio is an abstract strategy game for two to four players that takes the simple idea of tic-tac-toe and gives it real depth. Plan well and you keep several paths to victory open at once, instead of chasing just one.

What's it about?

The game is played on a 3x3 grid. Each player gets nine rings in one color: three small, three medium and three large. Every space holds one small, one medium and one large ring side by side, so several players can occupy the same square. That shared space is where the constant tug-of-war over size and position begins.

Three ways to win

On your turn you place a single ring. You win a line (across, down or diagonally) in one of three ways:

  1. three rings of the same size in your color in a line,
  2. three rings in ascending or descending size (small, medium, large) in a line,
  3. three nested rings of your color inside the same space.

Why it grips

Because you think on three levels at once, every move counts twice. A ring that builds your own line might already block an opponent's combination. Games are short, often decided within fifteen minutes, and beg for an immediate rematch.

Who is it for?

Families with children aged eight and up, couples, and anyone who enjoys a sharp filler between bigger games. Otrio needs no text at all, which makes it easy to play in any language.

Conclusion

Otrio is tic-tac-toe for grown-ups: quick to teach, hard to master, and a handsome object on the table thanks to its solid wooden or plastic rings. If you want fast, tactical duels, you will love it. If you prefer long, story-driven evenings, reach for something larger.
