Shadows over Camelot*

Shadows over Camelot is a unique blend of cooperative and semi-cooperative gameplay set in the legendary world of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. It combines hand-management and deduction, suitable for 3–7 players.

Gameplay Overview

  • Roles: Players embody Knights of the Round Table, working together to complete various quests.
  • Quests: The quests range from defeating the Black Knight to searching for the Holy Grail.
  • Impact of Quests: Successful quests add white swords to the Round Table, while failures contribute black swords and/or siege engines around Camelot.
  • Objective: The goal is to accumulate a majority of white swords on the Round Table before Camelot is overwhelmed.
  • Player Turns: Each turn, a knight performs a "heroic action" (like moving to a quest, playing cards, etc.) and also chooses an evil action that advances the forces of darkness.
  • Traitor Mechanic: The game may include a traitor knight, secretly undermining the group while masquerading as a loyal member.

Conclusion

Shadows over Camelot offers a thrilling experience that requires teamwork, strategy, and a bit of suspicion, as players never know if a traitor lurks among them. The game's mix of cooperative play with the potential for betrayal creates an engaging and dynamic atmosphere. It's an excellent choice for players who enjoy medieval themes and the intrigue of not knowing who to fully trust until the very end.
