In 532, Buddhism arrived in Japan and took its place alongside Shintoism, the official religion. Players take on the role of Buddhist monks striving for the highest level of spirituality while activating action tiles to draw and build pagoda tiles, make offerings for meditation points, and acquire tiles for gaining points or advancing in the game. The game ends after the completion of the fourth pagoda, and the player with the most spirituality points wins.
