Too Many Bones*
Too Many Bones is a meaty dice-builder RPG for 1 to 4 players where you guide a hero, called a Gearloc, through a string of encounters before facing a powerful boss. It rewards anyone who enjoys tactical depth and premium components.
What's it about?
You take control of a Gearloc, each with its own character mat and personal pool of dice. Instead of drawing cards, you grow your abilities through those dice. Every encounter on the road to the boss throws new enemies, choices and loot at you. With each fight your hero gets stronger, learns new tricks and adapts to the threat ahead.
How it plays
A typical encounter runs like this:
- You reveal an encounter card and face the event or fight.
- In combat you place your dice on the battle mat and use attacks, defense and special skills.
- After a win you earn experience and unlock new dice abilities.
- You push through the days this way until the final boss is waiting.
What's in the box?
- Several Gearlocs with very different play styles
- A large pool of individual character dice
- Multiple bosses, each with its own mechanics
- High-quality tokens, mats and plastic components
Who is it for?
The game suits experienced groups and solo players who want a long, tactical campaign night. If you are after quick and light fare, the rules load will feel like too much.
Conclusion
Too Many Bones pays off for players who enjoy learning a system and shaping a hero across many battles. Fans of dice crawlers and solo adventures will love it. Anyone wanting a breezy filler should look elsewhere.
