Upon a Salty Ocean*

At the beginning of the 16th century, the city of Rouen serves as the most important French port, with its wealth reliant on fishing and the trade of salted fish. Players take on the roles of merchants investing in ships and city buildings to increase their riches as they compete to become the wealthiest merchant by the time King Francis I visits the city.

Starting with a caravel loaded with salt barrels and a salt mine, each player aims to build a maritime empire over five rounds. The game features phases for events, actions, and end-of-turn activities, allowing players to adjust market prices, perform various actions, and manage their finances strategically.
