Players represent tribes living in Mesopotamia, striving to develop in a desert and limited fertile area between two rivers. They seek power by building ziggurats, creating wells, offering sacrifices to the gods, and interacting with the nobles of Assur. The game features a mix of short-term and long-term strategies, played over three epochs with cycles of expansion and investment.
