The expansion adds numerous details without affecting gameplay. Players can choose from a variety of options each round, including moving military units, playing political cards, and attempting diplomatic maneuvers. Political affiliations influence actions, while trade routes can be bid upon and may provide substantial economic benefits, though they are vulnerable to disruptions. Players can also develop technologies for battlefield advantages and must manage oil reserves when moving units.
