Bosworth*

Bosworth is essentially a chess variant for up to four players. The pieces are the same as in chess but are represented as discs, allowing them to be drawn randomly from a stack. Players start with four pawns in their field edge and four pieces from their draw stack in hand.

On each turn, a player must move or capture with a piece, fill empty spaces in their field with a piece from their hand, and then draw to maintain four pieces. The pieces move and capture like in chess, except pawns can move sideways and capture diagonally, and kings can capture their own pieces to avoid check. The objective is to checkmate all opposing kings.
