Chess960*
Players arrange their pieces randomly behind the pawns on the white side, ensuring that bishops occupy opposite colors and the king is situated between the two rooks. The black pieces mirror the arrangement of the white pieces, resulting in 960 possible setups. This variant is known as Chess 960 or Fischer Random Chess.
