Kahuna*
Kahuna is a strategic two-player game set in the South Seas, where players take on the roles of Kahuna – powerful sorcerers of the Pacific. The game revolves around competing for dominance over an archipelago of twelve small islands.
Gameplay Overview
- Objective: To gain control of a majority of the twelve islands by strategically placing and removing bridges.
- Island Control: Players use cards to build bridges between islands. Gaining the majority of bridges around an island allows you to place a marker stone on it.
Game Mechanics
- Card Play: Players use cards to determine their actions, either placing bridges, removing opponent's bridges, or gaining control of islands.
- Bridge Majority: Having the majority of bridges connected to an island lets you control it and potentially disrupt your opponent's connections.
Game Rounds
- Three Rounds: The game is played over three rounds, with scoring occurring at the end of each round.
- End Game Conditions: A round ends when all face-down deck cards and three face-up cards are taken. The game can also end if a player has no bridges left on the board.
Components and Theme
- Visual Appeal: The Kosmos edition features excellent graphics and wooden pieces, enhancing the thematic experience of island control and magic.
- South Seas Theme: The game immerses players in a theme of magical rivalry in the Pacific archipelago, combining strategy with a mystical storyline.
