Kniffel 8*
Kniffel 8 is the classic dice game played with eight dice instead of five. A quick family game for two to four that gives Yahtzee veterans a new challenge.
What is it about?
The core stays familiar. You roll, set dice aside, reroll and finally score one combination on your sheet. The difference is the dice count. Eight dice open up more and bigger combinations than the original, and the score sheet grows to match. It is rated for ages 8 and up, and a game takes 15 to 20 minutes.
How a turn works
- Roll all eight dice.
- Keep what you like and reroll the rest up to two more times.
- Score the result in an empty box on your sheet.
The catch: every 8 you roll is locked. You cannot reroll eights, and that wrecks more than one plan.
At a glance
- 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up
- 15 to 20 minutes per game
- Eight dice and new scoring options
- Publisher: Schmidt Spiele
Who is it for?
Families and regular Yahtzee groups who want something new without learning a new game. Fans of earlier entries like Kniffel 7 will feel at home.
Conclusion
Kniffel 8 does not reinvent anything, and it does not try to. The locked eights add real decisions to each roll. If you enjoy dice luck with a bit of tactics, it is a good buy. If classic Yahtzee bores you, this will not change your mind.
