Makruk*

Makruk, or Thai chess, is a board game derived from the Indian game Chaturanga from the 6th century, making it closely related to chess. It is particularly popular in Thailand and Cambodia, where it is more widely played than chess. The setup for Makruk resembles international chess, but pawns start on the third rank, and the king always stands to the left of the queen. The queen moves only one square diagonally, and the bishop can move one square in any diagonal direction or straight.
