The East India Company grows rapidly by delivering exotic goods from the New World and the Far East. To operate on such a large scale, the company needs money, leading to the opening of the first world stock exchange in Amsterdam. Players assume the roles of wealthy citizens in 17th-century Holland, investing in shares of the East India Company or engaging in risky trade with exotic goods for greater profits.
Each player starts with initial capital, price change cards, and action cards. The game board displays the prices for stocks and goods, and players can make multiple transactions in a turn, followed by playing a price change card that influences market values. Players must closely monitor their opponents and the market, balancing the potential for higher earnings from trading goods against the inherent risks involved.
