New York*

New York is a city-building game from Piatnik in which 2 to 5 players buy buildings and group them into large, connected districts.

What's it about?

The game is an expanded take on Sid Sackson's classic Property. Instead of avoiding bankruptcy, you now try to link as many buildings as possible into one block. Whoever owns the biggest district at the end scores the most points.

How scoring works

The points break down simply:

  • 2 points for each building in your largest group
  • 1 point for each building outside that group
  • 1 point for each leftover money token

Who is it for?

The game suits families and casual players well. It runs about 90 minutes and works from age 12. It plays best with 3 or 4 people.

Conclusion

New York is a sound card game with a route-building hook. If you like simple rules and good planning, you will enjoy it. Hardcore gamers may want more depth.
