Gods and goddesses are fickle beings, prone to jealousy and betrayal, yet capable of compassion and bravery. Players serve two gods each and strive to praise their glory while avoiding tales of their infamy.

The game features two play styles: Titanomachy, for individual victories, and Pantheon, a partnership game for two teams of two. In both variants, players perform actions that shape the bard's narrative about the ancient history of the Eight and can invoke their gods' powers to control the story and establish their version as eternal.
