Wine & Cheese*
Wine & Cheese is a strategy game for exactly two players. You run farms in Burgundy and only win if wine and cheese earn you money in equal measure.
What is it about?
You gather ingredients, produce wine and cheese, age them and sell at the right moment. The twist is in the scoring: in the end, what counts is how evenly you earned from both. Go all in on wine and you lose. Designed by Scott Almes, it is rated 12 and up and plays in 45 to 75 minutes.
What makes it tick
- Worker placement with paired workers that act as a team
- Hand management with cards
- Contracts that reward production and sales
- Scoring based on your weaker side, wine or cheese
A turn in broad strokes
- Place your paired workers to collect ingredients.
- Produce wine or cheese and store it to age.
- Sell aged goods or fulfil contracts.
Timing is the real game. Longer aging pays more, but your opponent will not wait for you.
Who is it for?
Couples and regular pairs who like medium-weight strategy. If you enjoy 7 Wonders Duel, this offers a meatier economic angle.
Conclusion
Wine & Cheese is a pure head-to-head game with one clear idea: balance beats specialisation. That forces interesting trade-offs every round. Groups of three or four need to look elsewhere. For two players, it is one of the more interesting releases of 2026.
