Bloom Kingdom*

Bloom Kingdom is a clever card game for 2 to 5 players aged 8 and up. Everyone plays cards into a shared display at the same time, hoping the last two cards left in their own hand end up worth the most.

What's it about?

Times are good in the kingdom. Every card played makes the shared display stronger and pushes certain character types up in value. Yet only the two cards still in your hand at the end of a round score. That tension drives the whole game.

How a round plays

  1. Everyone secretly picks a character card from their hand.
  2. All cards are revealed and added to the shared display.
  3. The display decides which character types are currently valuable.
  4. When the round ends, your final two hand cards score.

After three rounds, the player with the most points wins.

The core dilemma

To make a character type valuable, you usually have to play cards of that type. But those are exactly the cards you want to keep for scoring. Every turn is a trade-off between building strength and banking points.

At a glance

  • 2 to 5 players, 15 to 25 minutes
  • simultaneous selection, hand management, set collection
  • designers: Christian Kudahl, Thomas Weber
  • publishers include Deep Print Games and Pegasus Spiele

Conclusion

Short rules, quick rounds and a sharp decision every turn. Fans of light card games with a bit of reading the table will enjoy Bloom Kingdom. If you want deep planning or a rich theme, it will feel too slim.
