Terra Mystica*
Welcome to the diverse and captivating land of Terra Mystica, where 14 distinct peoples inhabit seven unique landscapes. In this strategic board game, each group is intrinsically tied to its own home environment, and to expand and flourish, they must transform neighboring terrains into their native habitats, all while competing against rival factions.
Gameplay Overview
- Full Information Strategy: Terra Mystica is a game that relies on strategic planning and offers no element of luck. It rewards players who can devise well-thought-out strategies. Luck won't save you here.
- The 14 Groups: Players assume the roles of one of the 14 different groups, each with its own characteristics and abilities. Subtlety and cunning are crucial as you aim to control the largest possible territory and enhance your group's capabilities.
- Religious Cults: There are four religious cults in which you can progress, adding an extra layer of strategy and choice to your gameplay.
- Resource Management: Players take turns executing actions based on their available resources. Various buildings enable the development of different resources, such as dwellings for additional workers, trading houses for generating income, strongholds to unlock unique abilities, and temples to enhance religion, terraforming, and seafaring skills.
- Building Upgrades: Buildings can be upgraded, with dwellings evolving into trading houses, and trading houses advancing into strongholds or temples. Temples can even be upgraded to sanctuaries.
- Seven Landscapes: The game world consists of seven landscapes, each inhabited by two distinct groups. These landscapes are Desert (Fakirs and Nomads), Plains (Halflings and Cultists), Swamp (Alchemists and Darklings), Lake (Mermaids and Swarmlings), Forest (Witches and Auren), Mountain (Dwarves and Engineers), and Wasteland (Giants and Chaos Magicians).
- Proximity Matters: While being close to other groups grants additional power, it also makes expansion more challenging, adding a strategic twist to the game.
