Heckmeck Junior*
Heckmeck Junior is the kid-friendly dice version of the classic Pickomino (Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck), for 2 to 5 players ages 5 and up. In about 20 minutes the little ones roll up the tastiest ingredients and become Worm King of the Day.
What's it about?
Using six dice you gather toppings for your Mac Heck burger: cheese, ketchup, cucumber, and of course the all-important worm. Roll cleverly and grab as many different treats as you can to claim the most valuable tiles.
How is it different from grown-up Heckmeck?
- The dice show food symbols instead of numbers
- The tiles carry single-digit numbers that even preschoolers can count
- The rules are boiled down to the essentials, while the push-your-luck thrill stays
How it plays
You roll, set symbols aside, and decide whether to push on or stop. If your desired topping is already taken, you may swipe it from another player's plate, which is good for plenty of giggles.
Who it's for
Families with kindergarten and early-school children looking for a first dice game with a real dash of risk.
Conclusion
Reiner Knizia carries his proven Bratwurm formula charmingly down to younger players. A friendly, quick-to-teach dice game that parents will still enjoy.
