Hitster: Battle of the Generations*

Hitster: Battle of the Generations is the party music quiz that pits young against old: place songs from three eras on your timeline.

It is a standalone game, so no base box is needed, and it is aimed at groups aged 16 and up.

What's it about?

A song plays and you guess when it came out. Get it right and the card joins your personal timeline. The twist here is a split into three generations you can pick from:

  • Vinyl classics: hits before 1985
  • Cassette and CD: songs from 1986 to 2005
  • Streaming: music from 2006 to 2025

Each group can stick to the era it knows best. Or mix them on purpose, so parents sweat over current charts while the kids struggle with eighties anthems.

How it plays

  1. Draw a song card and play the track.
  2. Place the card where you think it belongs in your timeline.
  3. Flip it: if the year fits, the card stays.

The first player with ten cards in the correct order is crowned Hitster Champion.

Who is it for?

It plays 2 to 10 people in about 30 minutes. That makes it a fit for birthdays, family gatherings and any evening where music is on anyway. If you know the original Hitster, you can start right away.

Conclusion

A strong spin-off for mixed-age groups. Picking eras makes the generational showdown fairer and a lot louder. Fans of deep strategy should look elsewhere. Anyone who likes to sing along will have a great time.
