The Sheriff of Nottingham is in trouble. His time in power is running out, and he hasn't managed to collect enough money to stay in office for another year. He sends his deputies to collect overdue taxes, promising to promote the most successful deputy to chief assistant, leading to a willingness among them to occasionally steal from each other.
