The year is 1700, and the young Charles XII is recently crowned King of Sweden. Rivals around the Baltic Sea seize the opportunity to gain Swedish territory, forming an alliance that includes Denmark, Saxony-Poland, and Russia under the leadership of Tsar Peter. This coalition mobilizes to exploit the inexperienced king and shatter Swedish dominance in the region, igniting the Great Northern War that devastates Northern and Eastern Europe for over two decades.

PAX BALTICA is a two-player wargame that encapsulates the entire Great Northern War (1700-1721). Players face numerous challenges that may disrupt their strategies, influenced by historical events and changing circumstances during this tumultuous conflict. Special rules reflect unique occurrences of the war, including military reforms, uprisings, and outside interventions.
