In a post-apocalyptic setting, players engage in negotiation and resource management while competing for a place in one of the few surviving golden cities. They explore ruins, fulfill quests, and improve their skills, aiming to become experts and gain character points. The modular game board offers new maps and different buildings to raid, each triggering unique scenarios and moral choices that affect gameplay and provide resources for crafting special items.
