Storm over Arnhem*
The game is the first in the Area-Impulse series by Avalon Hill, which later included titles like Thunder at Cassino and Stalingrad. It simulates the fierce battle for the Arnhem Bridge from September 18 to 21, 1944, starting with the British holding the area surrounded by Germans, aiming to endure as long as possible. Each full round lasts 8 hours and consists of multiple mini-rounds where players can move or fire a limited number of units, which become "committed" afterward. Combat is resolved by calculating attack and defense values, with the attacker using two dice to determine loss points for the defender based on the difference in total scores. The game is rated relatively low in complexity on Avalon Hill's scale, scoring a 3 out of 10.
