The Princes of Machu Picchu*
When the Spaniards conquered the Inca Empire, only a few princes managed to escape into the mountains. Hidden high above the Urabamba River lies a place that the Spaniards would never discover: the lost city of Machu Picchu. However, caution is needed, as there may be a traitor among the princes ready to reveal the city's location.
Each player represents an Inca prince whose workers cultivate maize, raise llamas, grow coca, and produce ceramics and fabrics. They aim to ally with the priests of the condor, the priests of the puma, and the virgins of the sun. The game can end in two ways: the Inca win by activating all priests and virgins in time, or the Spaniards win by discovering Machu Picchu. If the Inca win, the prince who has made the wisest sacrifices to the gods will triumph. In a Spanish victory, the princes who collected the most gold will receive a score multiplier, but this might not be enough to secure a win. Players select their actions by moving their prince around the city map.
