Trench*

Trench is an abstract strategy game for exactly two players aged 10 and up, drawn from the trench warfare of World War I.

What's it about?

The board is an 8x8 grid laid out as a diamond. A trench runs down the middle and splits the field in two. Both armies face off and fight to control that trench.

How it plays

Every piece, from the Soldier to the General, moves by its own rules. You only win by making them work together.

  1. Seize the trench with your pieces.
  2. Push into enemy territory.
  3. Survive two battles to win.

Who is it for?

Trench rewards clear, forward-looking thought. At a weight near 3.5 out of 5 it is no quick snack, but rather a treat for fans of chess and deep duels.

  • A pure two-player duel
  • Diamond board with unusual paths
  • Pieces with distinct strengths

Conclusion

Fans of abstract brain games get a tight duel. Anyone after luck and breezy play should look elsewhere.
