Carcassonne Labyrinth*

Carcassonne Labyrinth fuses two classics into a light family game for 1 to 4 players aged 8 and up. You shift the maze and build your own landscape.

What's it about?

Ravensburger and Hans im Glück have merged The aMAZEing Labyrinth with Carcassonne. Max J. Kobbert and Klaus-Jürgen Wrede, who designed the originals, share the credit. This is not an expansion but a standalone game. A session runs about 30 minutes.

How it plays

Your turn takes just a few steps:

  1. Draw a tile and slide it into the central board.
  2. A tile pops out on the far side.
  3. Move your pawn along the roads, ideally to a treasure.
  4. Add the pushed-out tile, plus any treasure you reached, to your personal landscape.
  5. Completed cities and roads earn you shield and treasure tokens.

Tile placement follows the familiar Carcassonne rules. A treasure only pays off if you finish the city or road it belongs to.

How do you win?

  • At the end you stack your tiles and tokens into a tower.
  • Quest cards award a crown, for example for the most shields.
  • The quest winner tops their stack with that crown.
  • The tallest stack wins.

Who is it for?

It is aimed at families and fans of either classic. Solo play turns it into a small puzzle. At four players, pushing tiles away from rivals gets noticeably mean.

Conclusion

Carcassonne Labyrinth blends both ideas neatly and plays fast. At two players or solo it is a cozy little brain teaser. Experienced gamers will find it thin. If you want to bring a familiar name to the family table, it is a solid pick.
