Crack List*

Crack List is Scattergories meets Uno: a fast word and card game where the first player to empty their hand wins.

It plays 2 to 8 people aged 14 and up and shines with groups that enjoy loud, spontaneous play.

What's it about?

A Crack List card in the middle shows categories, such as animals or movies. Your hand cards show letters. To play a card, you name something from the current category that starts with that letter. Sounds easy. With a clock ticking in your head and everyone watching, it rarely is.

What makes it tick

  • Shifting categories: Several Crack List cards come into play during a game, so the topics keep changing.
  • Nasty action cards: The hardest letters come with take-that cards that make others lose a turn.
  • No downtime: Turns take seconds, and the whole table checks whether your answer counts.

How it plays

  1. Read the category on the Crack List card.
  2. Name a fitting word for a letter in your hand.
  3. Play the card and pass the turn.

Who is it for?

A game runs 20 to 40 minutes. Crack List works best with five or six players, when the pace picks up and the arguments start. If word games make you freeze, you will struggle.

Conclusion

A quick party filler with a simple core and lots of laughs. If you like Scattergories but hate writing things down, this is for you. If you want quiet strategy, skip it.
