Die Macher*
Die Macher is a political strategy game for 3 to 5 players. You lead a national party through seven regional elections across Germany, and the party with the most victory points wins.
How You Score
- Regional elections award one to eighty points, based on the region's size and your result.
- Media influence adds points when you win a region where you control the press.
- Party membership grows over the game and pays out steadily.
- Party platform scores a bonus when it matches national opinion at the end.
The Editions
- The 1986 edition featured four West German parties for three to four players.
- The 1997 edition added a fifth player and the reunified country.
- The 2006 edition introduced a shorter five-round variant.
Conclusion
Die Macher rewards forward planning and sharp negotiation. If you enjoy heavy economic and majority games, it is a landmark worth the long evening. Newcomers are better off starting with something lighter.
