Codenames: Duet*
Embark on a collaborative journey of espionage in Codenames Duet, where the familiar elements of Codenames persist – providing one-word clues to unveil your agents among those on the table. This time, however, you and your teammate work together to uncover all your agents, adding a thrilling cooperative dimension to the challenge. The mystery of not knowing your agents from the outset adds an intriguing layer to the mission, raising questions that even Congressional investigators might ponder later!
Gameplay Overview
-
Setup: Lay out 25 word cards in a 5×5 grid and insert a key card into the holder, ensuring each player sees one side. The key card displays a 5×5 grid, with nine green squares representing agents and three black squares representing assassins. Complicating matters, three of the nine green squares on each side are also green on the other side, adding an extra twist.
-
Objective: Collaboratively unveil all fifteen agents without accidentally revealing an assassin before time elapses to secure victory. Either player can kick off the mission by offering a one-word clue along with a number. The recipient identifies the corresponding agent by placing a finger on the card. Correct identifications allow continued attempts, but identifying a bystander ends the turn, and revealing an assassin results in joint failure.
-
Continuous Guessing: Unlike regular Codenames, players can persist in guessing as long as they correctly identify agents each time. This flexibility proves valuable for revisiting previous clues and uncovering missed agents. After the initial clue, players take turns providing clues, maintaining a suspenseful rhythm.
Decoding Success or Failure:
Will effective communication and collaboration lead to success, or will the shadow of an assassin thwart your efforts? The challenge unfolds as you strategize to reveal all your agents and secure victory before time runs out. The covert mission awaits your tactical finesse.
