Everdell*
Everdell invites players to immerse themselves in the enchanting valley of Everdell, where a thriving civilization of forest critters seeks to expand their territories and establish new cities beneath towering trees, meandering streams, and mossy hollows. As the leader of a group of ambitious critters, you have a busy year ahead, filled with construction, character encounters, and hosting events. Can you ensure that the sun shines brightest on your city before the winter moon rises?
Gameplay Overview
Dynamic Tableau Building: Everdell is a game that combines dynamic tableau building with worker placement mechanics. Players must carefully manage their resources and make strategic decisions to thrive in this charming forest realm.
Three Key Actions: On their turn, players can take one of three essential actions:
a) Place a Worker: Utilize your collection of Worker pieces to place them on various board locations, events, and Destination cards. Workers play a crucial role in advancing your tableau, enabling resource gathering, card drawing, and other special actions to develop your city.
b) Play a Card: Build and populate your city tableau with up to 15 Construction and Critter cards. There are five types of cards: Travelers, Production, Destination, Governance, and Prosperity. These cards generate valuable resources (twigs, resin, pebbles, and berries), grant unique abilities, and, most importantly, contribute to your overall point score. The interactions between cards offer a wide array of strategic possibilities for building your city.
c) Prepare for the Next Season: As the game progresses from Winter to the onset of the following winter, workers return to your supply, and new workers are introduced. The game's objective is to accumulate points throughout the seasons, with the player possessing the city with the highest point total emerging victorious.
Conclusion
Everdell provides players with an enchanting journey into a lush forest realm filled with anthropomorphic critters. With dynamic tableau building, worker placement, and a plethora of cards to discover, the game offers an engaging and strategic experience. Compete against other leaders of critter groups as you aim to create the most prosperous and vibrant city in Everdell. Will your city bask in the brightest sunlight before the arrival of the winter moon?
