Gestrudis*

Gestrudis is a cooperative real-time party game for 3 to 7 players where the whole table races the clock together. Gestrudis can talk to ghosts, but they make it hard: they all try to reach her at once, using only gestures and sounds.

What is it about?

One player is Gestrudis, everyone else plays the rowdy ghosts. Across seven rounds the ghosts act out the concepts on their cards at the same time, miming and making noises. If Gestrudis works out what each ghost means, the round is won.

How it plays

  1. The ghosts draw their concept cards and all start at once.
  2. They may only mime and make sounds, never a spoken word.
  3. Gestrudis matches each ghost to the right concept.
  4. After seven rounds you count how often the team got it right.

Who it's for

  • Groups that enjoy noise and laughter
  • Families and game nights from about age 12
  • Anyone who can't stand a quiet table

A game runs 15 to 20 minutes, and the rules take two minutes to teach. That short, silly charm earned Gestrudis a 2024 Golden Geek Best Party Game nomination.

Conclusion

A loud, fast play-along with no losers at the table. If you want quiet, brain-burning strategy, look elsewhere. If you want to laugh hard with friends, this fits.

Nominated for 1 award.
