1918: Brother Against Brother*
1918: Brother against Brother is a two-player war game that depicts the Finnish Civil War in the spring of 1918. One player takes on the role of the Whites (government troops), while the other represents the Reds (socialist revolutionaries). The game's point-to-point board illustrates Finland of the time, influencing gameplay through its railways and roads.
Players use over 50 action cards, each featuring a unique period image, to drive the game. These cards can be utilized for action points or events, which include notable occurrences like German intervention and the Swedish occupation of the Åland Islands. The units primarily operate at the company and battalion levels, featuring both the Civil Guard and the Red Guard, along with specialized forces. The Reds aim to occupy the White capital Vaasa before the Germans arrive or defend their territory until the end of the game, making the strategic use of actions and events vital for both sides. The game is fully bilingual, offering action card decks in English and Finnish.
