Napoléon: The Waterloo Campaign, 1815*
On June 18, 1815, one of the decisive battles in military history took place in Belgium, about 30 kilometers southeast of Brussels. Napoleon, having returned from exile on the island of Elba, swiftly formed an army to defeat the scattered British and Prussian forces preparing to invade France. Wellington's solid defense and timely Prussian reinforcements led to a significant victory for the allies at the Battle of Waterloo, putting an end to Napoleon's military ambitions.
The game features a colorful map of southern Belgium and includes wooden blocks to simulate reduced steps and fog of war without unnecessary complications. It can be played by two or three players, with special rules in the three-player version allowing for a British and a Prussian player on the allied team. There are essentially three different versions of the game, each with variations in rules and components, including differing numbers of blocks and game duration.
