All Bridges Burning: Red Revolt and White Guard in Finland, 1917-1918*
All Bridges Burning is a strategy game in GMT's COIN series that recreates the Finnish civil war of 1918 for three players.
What's it about?
In 1917 Russia's Tsar abdicates, and a power vacuum opens in the Grand Duchy of Finland. Three sides fight for the country's future. The Reds want a working-class revolt, the White Senate wants order restored. The Social Democrats push for a peaceful, moderate path.
How it plays
Each faction has its own commands and special activities. A unique sequence of play means no side feels the same.
- Reveal a card and pick an event or an operation.
- Move forces, build influence, or negotiate.
- Watch the national mood so a settlement stays possible.
If Germany or Russia interferes too much, all three players lose together.
Components
- Multi-use cards with events
- A map of Finland split into areas
- Markers for the three factions
Who is it for?
This one suits seasoned strategists. A game runs several hours and the rules have depth. A solo and two-player mode let you play it alone too.
Conclusion
If you love history and tough strategy, this is a strong COIN title. For casual game nights it is too heavy.
