What does "one against many" mean?

One-against-many games pit one player against 2 or more other players. Sometimes it is also called "one against all" or "one against the rest". This leads to a mixture of competitive (1 against many) and cooperative play (the "many" are a team). For our list, we only used games (expansions, variant, etc.) that use the one vs. many mechanic in gameplay, not just in pictures or themes.

By the way, in English this kind of games is called "One versus Many".

Examples of "One versus Many" games

An example of a one versus many game is for example Skat. Each round, the one who wins the turn competes against the remaining two players.

Another example is the skill game Icecool. Here, in turn, each player is once the hunter of all the remaining players.
