Passion for chess & poker

FFG became aware of him during CCG tournaments.

Nate came to love the novel "A Game of Thrones" in the summer of 1999. When he stumbled across the A Game of Thrones trading card game a few years later, he was quickly hooked. He then immediately participated in the first world championships of the game and became I runner-up. In the following years he won several national championships.

Because of this success, Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) became aware of him and actually hired him as a playtester. He eventually worked with Eric Lang and then-developer Casey Galvan as a playtester for one of their games. When Galvan left FFG, he encouraged Nate French to apply for the vacant position. Nate was working at an Applebee's restaurant at the time, so had little to lose and threw in the towel there....
