The best games from Richard Borg 🇺🇸👨 2025

Looking for a really good game from game designer Richard Borg 👨? Then we have just the thing: the list with the best Richard Borg games 2025.

Who is Richard Borg anyway?

Richard Borg has been designing dice, card & board games since 1987. The game designer hails from Connecticut, USA🇺🇸, was born in 1948 and currently lives in Orlando, Florida, USA🇺🇸. Borg is married and has two children.

Borg's first game "Doubter's Dice/Liars Dice/Bluff" he developed in 1986 at the age of 38 - so he has been designing games for over 39 years. Famous Borg games are for example Memoir '44, BattleLore & Commands & Colors: Ancients.

At first rather simple games

"As far back as I can remember, games have always been an integral part of my life!" -- Richard Borg

Borg had always had board games as a hobby, but it wasn't until the end of the 1980s that things became concrete with the development of his own games: his first game and Perudo adaptation "Doubter's Dice" (based on Perudo, later released under the name "Liars Dice" and known in Germany as "Bluff") brought an immediate breakthrough. Based on the success he decided to go the way of professional game development. This was followed by a few more rather simple games.

Wargaming as a great love

His success allowed him to focus on his love for wargames and games with a historical background (preferably both): Battle Cry thematizes, for example. the American Civil War, Lightning and Thunder the Greek mythology and Memoir '44 the Second World War, Commands and Colors: Ancients the Roman Empire.

Success forces many expansions - but also small pearls

"Some would call this a dream job.... and they are right! Not a day goes by that I'm not involved with games - and that's wonderful!" -- Richard Borg

Driven by success, many expansions for his games were released. Still, he kept taking space to develop games away from his main paths (e.g. BattleLore or Wyatt Earp).
