Who is Wolfgang Warsch anyway?

Wolfgang Warsch has been designing dice, card & board games since 2015. The game designer hails from Steyr, Upper Austria, Austria🇦🇹, was born in 1980 and currently lives in Vienna, Austria🇦🇹. Warsch is the father of two children.

Warsch's first game "Dream Team" he developed in 2015 at the age of 35 - so he has been designing games for over 9 years. Famous Warsch games are for example The Quacks of Quedlinburg, The Mind & That's pretty Clever.

Molecular biologist as main job - game developer only as hobby

Warsch studied molecular biology and works in the field of cancer research. He has been awarded several prizes and a scholarship for his scientific work.

Warsch started developing board games in his early 20s. His first game was to package the mechanics of billiards into a board game. He presented one of his next ideas to Goldsieber Verlag, which did not publish the game. In 2012, he was commissioned by Zoch Verlag to develop the game Dream Team, which was published in 2015. This was followed in 2016 by the family game Shadow Master at Piatnik.

First author with 3 nominations for Spiel des Jahres in one year.

Then at the 2018 Nuremberg Toy Fair, the games Illusion and The Mind, The Quack of Quedlinburg and That's pretty Clever were released. The Mind was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres 2018, The Quack of Quedlinburg and That's pretty Clever for the Kennerspiel des Jahres 2018. Warsch is thus the only game author to have received three nominations in the same year.
