Who is Rüdiger Dorn anyway?
Rüdiger Dorn has been designing dice, card & board games since 1992. The game designer hails from Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany🇩🇪, was born in 1969 and currently lives in Pfofeld, Bavaria, Germany🇩🇪.
Dorn's first game Cameo he developed in 1992 at the age of 23 - so he has been designing games for over 33 years. Famous Dorn games are for example Istanbul, Goa & Las Vegas.
Experimented with rule changes already in childhood
Rüdiger Dorn began developing his first variants of well-known games such as Malefiz or Fang den Hut when he was just under 10 years old. During his childhood and adolescence, he then designed other games "of the quality start-finish games with event fields" or board game adaptations of computer games like Donkey Kong or Frogger.
Game invention keeps him going even as a young adult
At the age of just under 19, Dorn became aware of the professional game magazine "Die Spielbox": "That's when I abruptly became aware that there are actually people behind games who have developed these games!" From then on, he informed himself more and more intensively about the topic of "game invention." The "Game Inventor's Guide" (by Spiel-des-Jahres founding member Tom Werneck) was his biggest inspiration. "I highly recommend this book to anyone new to this field!" Then, in 1992, the first game is finally accepted by a publisher: Cameo by HABA.
