What is the "Meeples' Choice" game award?

The "Meeples' Choice" is an award for dice, card & board games. The award is designed to be worldwide🌍, was established in 1995 and is voted for by an audience.

The Meeples' Choice Award is an award given by Spielfrieks, an internet board game discussion group with more than a thousand members.

In 2001, members of Spielfrieks participated in a series of retrospective surveys to track the awards back to 1995. The three board games released that year that received the most votes are awarded the Meeples' Choice Award. Any member of the Spielfriek discussion group can participate in the voting. Voting takes place in May each year and is limited to games released the previous year.
